The Antonio Treatment: A Peek Into Ballatore’s LA Loft

Awesome LA Loft Interior Design

HGTV Design Star Season Four winner Antonio Ballatore pulls no punches from the irreverent, iconoclastic and one of a kind design of the downtown LA loft. From a completely DIY reclaimed wood kitchen with a bright lipstick-pink feature wall into a lounge area pinball machine and custom built sectional, Ballatore betrays a brazen contempt for the mundane from the demonstration of his 3,300 square feet residence.

Anachronistic Modern Loft Living

Sharing living room with a six year old british bulldog, Ballatore draws heavily upon his fifteen years of experience in set design to manifest his character throughout his dwelling. A walking tour through the high ceilinged rooms of the idiosyncratic pet project provides plenty of insight into his private life, represented through a surfeit of antiques, gifts, art, and much more intimate displays like funeral cards and mementos of previous lovers portraying a surprisingly candid personal consciousness.

Ballatore’s different design aesthetic is observable throughout the attic, with a handbuilt staircase rising to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom, both erected by the plan celebrity himself. The dining area, overseen by a Native American Idol artwork made by his father, is replete with a throne seat from Melrose Gallery and a real human skull, plus a hand-me-down from his paternal inspirator. A second, bigger 17th century Spanish throne jobs an authoritative tone to the space from the mind of the Table, sourced from Environment.

Distinctive & Personal Design Aesthetic

By far the standout area in the attic, however, is the living area. Fans of Ballatore’s series, The Antonio Treatment would recognize a wall mural adapted from a photograph taken from a 1980’s Slayer tour. Other notable pieces like a Willams Road King Pinball Machine and a storied Bison Head orbit an 18′ sectional sofa created especially for the space by Blueprint Furniture, using a studded seat from Suburban Home in downtown LA providing a stoic counterpoint.
